Ann Coulter, Christian, Part 237

Is über-Christian Ann Coulter, author of Godless and Demonic, a (in her own words) “fake Christian?”

ann-coulter-christian-part-237

One could be forgiven for reaching that conclusion.

Perhaps Coulter’s tweets can shed some light. Her first and only Christmas tweet in 2016 proclaimed not the gospel but her political views on immigration: “My Christmas card: 7-Eleven Men’s Room Door, Bonner Springs, Kansas, today …” (Build the Wall).

Though she left Christ out of Christmas, what about Easter? Her 2016 Easter sunrise tweet – “Happy Easter! Thanks for eternal life, Jesus! And God bless this sweet Muslim martyred in Your name” – linked to a feature on a Muslim martyr.

While praising Jesus for salvation, Ann was joyful over a moderate Muslim who was martyred for seeking unity between people of different faiths. Asad Shah, a “devout Muslim,” never knew Jesus and was not saved. Jubilation?

In this year’s iteration of her (almost) annual Kwanzaa column (virtually identical to her 2013 version), Coulter concluded with these words (all caps): “MERRY CHRISTMAS, FELLOW CHRISTIANS!”

It is through the Prince of peace that mankind can experience true peace. Yet Coulter prefers political salvation for America and wishes a “Merry Christmas” to her “fellow Christians.”

Actually, the Christmas season is a spectacular time to introduce the Savior of the world to those in the world who do not yet know Him. Wishing non-Christians a “Merry Christmas” with a heart of love can, at the very least, point them toward Jesus. Moreover, it offers us an opportunity to share our faith with non-believers.

Christmas is all about the gospel of Christ, whose birth has been celebrated for two millennia. Favorite traditional Christmas songs (Joy to the World, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, etc.) celebrate the incarnation of the Messiah into our world, our lives, and our hearts.

The most well-known Bible verse, John 3:16, encapsulates the gospel message: “ For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Our Father’s gift of Christmas was followed by His gift on the cross.

Jesus entered our world, not to see a “devout Muslim” martyred for saying “Merry Christmas” or to promote an anti-immigration agenda, but, rather, to save mankind from itself, and, in the process, break down barriers and bring reconciliation.

Reconciliation is the very last thing Coulter wants. Coulter began 2005 reveling to a reporter, “Oh, it was so much fun this year, because saying ‘Merry Christmas’ is like saying ‘Fuck you!’”

The Christmas spirit still eludes Coulter.

Coulter Turns 55 – or Zero?

Ann Coulter was born 55 years ago, today, on 12/8/1961. Coulter’s spiritual birth date is as yet undetermined.

ann-coulter-turns-55-or-zero

Chronologically, Ann is 55-years-old; spiritually, she may not even be a newborn.

Coulter received a strict Catholic education (K-8) at St. Aloysius Catholic School until she entered public school. She eventually rejected her father’s Catholicism in favor of her mother’s Presbyterian faith, yet, upon reaching adulthood, she apparently disengaged herself from religion altogether. The absence of an internal moral compass would forever plague her.

With the publication of Godless (2006), Coulter zealously expressed a newfound faith in God, one which was conveniently finely calibrated to her ideology, agenda, and career.

Her father passed away in 2008, after years of declining health from dementia. Her mother died the following year. Since then, Coulter’s religious and political views have become quite bizarre, suggesting that her religious beliefs – whatever they were as a child and young adult – were actually those of her parents but not something she herself truly believed.

Coulter has never been restrained by an internal moral compass. Rather, when she toed the line it was to please her parents, not God. With their passing, Coulter has liberated herself from all moral and religious constraints.

As Coulter puts it, “My mother passed away. I can say anything now.

Non-Christian Behavior

Coulter claims to be “an extraordinarily good Christian” and “a big Christian.”[1] (I’m surprised she hasn’t claimed to be a Yuge Christian, like her savior, Donald Trump.)

For a “Christian,” Coulter spends an ungodly amount of time attacking Christians for behaving like Christians.[2] Moreover, Coulter’s own version of the gospel[3] is decidedly different from that of traditional and historic Christianity.

Coulter defends Trump on virtually everything, irrespective of the truth, belying her claim, “I want to speak the truth.”[4] But then, truth has never been a high priority for Coulter.[5]

Coulter’s latest iteration of the gospel message of Jesus Christ casts into question her very definition of “evangelical” – a term she has actually applied to herself: “I don’t think the Republicans understand evangelicals. We don’t need to be coddled to constantly.”

Coulter denigrates evangelicals, claiming, “Evangelicals won’t come out in droves for him because he’s not having ecstasies on stage.”[6] She repeated, “You don’t have to have ecstasies on stage to impress a Christian.” Yet again: “You don’t have to have religious ecstasies on stage to get the Christian vote.”

Is that how Coulter views evangelicals?

But Coulter also shockingly implied that Christians don’t have to behave like Christians. She said, “Like the military, you don’t have to observe, you have to respect the military, respect what they do.”

Her words are somewhat confusing, but the implications of her words mirror her defense of Trump’s unchristian behavior: “Some Christians want proof that a candidate has memorized Bible verses. I want a candidate who lives by this verse: ‘So do not be afraid of them.’”[7]

Coulter, again, eschews character and godliness to further her political and ideological agenda. She relegates integrity to the margins and places expediency front-and-center. In doing so, Coulter demonstrates her own faithlessness to not only the principles and doctrines of her faith but to her professed faith itself.

Fruit of the Spirit

Coulter boasts of being a Christian, yet doesn’t act like one. Are we to believe her claims or our eyes?

In Galatians 5:22-23, the apostle Paul describes the character traits of a Christian: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.”

Coulter appears bereft of the fruit of the Spirit. (Perhaps this is more hyperbole than reality, but then, so is much of Ann’s work.)

Love. If Coulter loves anything, she loves to hate. A master of polemics, vitriol is her passion. Sarcasm – cutting – is her favorite form of humor.

Joy. Coulter appears most joyful when she is in the spotlight (narcissist seeking glory[8]) and when she is emasculating her foes (and they are legion).

Peace. Peace seems to elude Ann. She is well known for her diatribes on matters great and small. (Even soccer filled her heart with rage.)

Longsuffering. The very moment someone steps out of line, Coulter instantly launches into a Twitter tirade. Those tirades are frequent and they are often ugly.

Kindness. Coulter is not particularly well known for her kindness. Indeed, Coulter lacks simple charity.

Goodness. If anti-Semitism, anti-Catholicism, and nativism count as “goodness,” then Coulter is filled to the brim.

Faithfulness. Coulter is renowned for betraying[9] her friends, her clients, her readers, and voters in both local and national elections. Similarly, Coulter betrays the very people of God, attacking their godliness, calling them traitors, and facilitating their martyrdom.

Gentleness. Another spiritual trait lacking in Coulter’s repertoire, gentleness was not to be found for Gold Star Families who are “immigrants.”

Self-control. Coulter’s temper tantrums (on-air, in commentary, and on social media) are inescapable. If Coulter doesn’t get her way – look out! Self-control? No. Control freak?[10] Yes. (The odd thing is, Coulter wants to control everything except herself!)

What has Ann actually accomplished with all of her nonsense? How many lives has she damaged or destroyed? How much damage has Ann done to herself and to those she loves?

The apostle Paul exhorts each of us to focus on what is most important in life: faith, hope, and love. Paul wrote (1 Cor. 13:1-3, emphasis added):

“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.”

Coulter sees herself – and more importantly, wants to be regarded – as “an extraordinarily good Christian.” But worldly people are incapable of living a godly life. The fruit of the Spirit is the fruit of the Spirit. The worldly cannot behave in a godly manner.

We expect Coulter to act her age – and she does: 55 (chronologically) and zero (spiritually).

May Jesus touch Ann’s heart this Christmas season and fill her with His love, joy, and peace.

Ann Coulter Pence-ive

With Conservatism and the American Dream on the precipice of disaster, will Ann Coulter choose to save herself or America? Will she continue to place pride above principles[1] or, in an abrupt about face, to actually do the right thing.

Pence-ive

Donald Trump’s selection of pro-immigration Gov. Mike Pence (IN) as his running mate places Coulter in a predicament, especially since her primary (if not sole) reason for supporting Trump is what she perceives as his strong stand against immigration.

For over a year,[2] Coulter has insisted – promised, vowed – that Donald Trump[3] is the only one we can trust to build a wall and stop immigration.[4]

Early this May, Coulter astonishingly claimed: “I’m bitter and cynical enough on immigration that I don’t trust anyone not to betray us. But if there was ever a candidate we could believe will build a wall and stop the mass importation of the Third World, it’s Trump.”[5]

But Trump has already proven that his immigration policy is malleable in order to reach consensus with the establishment. His pledge for a wall and deportation of illegal aliens are merely starting points for negotiation and will be retracted for expediency and making deals with Congress.

Even as Trump spoke of being flexible and willing to negotiate a grand deal (“comprehensive immigration reform” anyone?), Coulter continued to extol his virtues (as invisible as they might be) while besmirching all his detractors as corrupt or crazy[6]all the while opposing the one conservative candidate with a proven record on immigration – Ted Cruz.[7]

Aghast at the very thought of Trump choosing Pence for vice president, Coulter erupted with a tirade.[8]

For a fleeting moment, I hoped that she would see through Trump’s flimflam and realize that he will never fulfill her dreams. Immigration remains the single issue that matters most to her, yet she continues – to this day – to support Trump, the one candidate who has proven himself untrustworthy on this (and every other) issue.[9]

Will Coulter now abandon her commitment to a border wall and a moratorium on immigration – national policies she claims are essential to saving America as we know it – merely to salvage her pride and sell more books?

If Coulter has any integrity at all, she will denounce Trump, support a delegate revolt at the GOP Convention, and endorse Sen. Ted Cruz (TX), the only conceivable candidate who could both defeat Hillary this November and, once in office, be trusted to follow the Constitution and to make preservation of national sovereignty and American identity a top priority.

It will take more than integrity for Coulter to do the right thing. It will also take incredible courage – courage to admit that she was wrong about Trump[10] and that she lied about Cruz.[11]

Will Coulter place her own pride above the best interests of this nation (and the world), continuing to do what she has always done by taking the path of least resistance?[12]

Or will Ann do what she knows in her heart is the right thing to do? Will she trust in God, seek His will, and do it?

Ann regards Trump as her Savior.[13] If she would look to her real Savior – Jesus Christ[14] – then she could be filled with courage to do the right thing.[15] Will she?

(Have a little faith, Ann.)

Ann Coulter’s Next Book

Polemicist Ann Coulter’s next book, In Trump We Trust, is slated for release in August. This paean to The Donald will indisputably prove Coulter to be a bigger fraud than Trump.[1]

In Trump We Trust

Ten years ago, Coulter vilified the Left, denouncing godless liberals, but now she calls one her Savior.[2]

Coulter has long worshipped this candidate whom she herself has characterized as a fraud[3] and mental.[4]

Will In Trump We Trust incorporate the following sentiments already expressed by Coulter?

Coulter gushed, “thank God for raising up Donald Trump and giving us a chance to save the country.”[5] She said that Trump is “my hero, our Savior, the man who’s going to save my world.”[6] She claims Trump is “the greatest candidate for president ever,”[7] “the candidate I’ve been dreaming of.”[8]

Coulter astonishingly said, “I totally would [marry Trump if he were single].”[9] (She really must “trust” Trump to keep that marriage vow.)

Asked to describe her actual relationship with Trump, Coulter replied, “Blind worship.”

Blind worship? Sounds like a religious experience to me. Coulter amplified her answer, “It’s a little like the North Korean people with their dear, dear leader.” (Trump is really like a crazy, socialist tyrant?)

Was Coulter ever a conservative? A Christian?

Coulter may trust The Donald (she has, after all, staked what’s left of her reputation and her career on his success),[10] but we, the People, are not required to blindly worship him as she does.

Ann Coulter’s blind worship of a godless liberal is yet another reason to never trust Ann Coulter.[11]

Ann Coulter is NOT John the Baptist

John the Baptist lost his head for proclaiming God’s truth and holiness. Ann Coulter has betrayed all that she once believed in to promote the ungodly and profane.[1]

Now Coulter is a champion of New York Values, the kind she has opposed her entire adult life.

Not John the Baptist

A recent headline exposed Coulter’s betrayal: “Ann Coulter Says Trump’s Affair With Marla Maples Was Sanctioned By God.”

Coulter Praises Donald Trump’s Adultery

In an astonishing dialogue with Eric Metaxas, Coulter defended Trump’s vice as a virtue![2] In response to Metaxas’ declaration, “His vice of choice was adultery,” Coulter replied, “Allegedly.” Allegedly? Trump boasts of his conquests and his sexual desire for his own daughter!

Coulter added, “You know where he met Marla Maples? You know where he met her? I haven’t really followed his personal story very closely but he met her in church.”

According to Coulter, Trump’s long-term affair was justified because “he did marry her.” (No comment about his subsequent divorce or any of his affairs.) Coulter even claimed, “There are degrees of murder, there are degrees of adultery.” (However, all murderers are punished!)

Coulter will countenance any evil so long as she gets her way. In this case, she wants Trump to build a wall in her honor. She said, “It’s not his strongest point, oh well. He’s the only one who’s going to build the wall.” (Except, Trump will not build the wall Coulter wants.[3] Cruz will!)[4]

Coulter Condemns Divorce and Adultery

Nevertheless, Coulter continues to reject the sacred for the profane.

Until now, Coulter has condemned adultery (and divorce) throughout her professional career, chastising any public figures caught in that practice. She is wont to call the Democrat Party the party of “killing, lying, adultery, thievery, envy.”

For Coulter, admirable people cannot be adulterers. Coulter once declared, “None of the leaders I admire [have had affairs].”[5] (Until Trump!)

Coulter immediately added, “The greatest president of this century certainly never had an affair. … Of course we know that [he never had an affair]. Ronald Reagan could not possibly have had an affair. It is beyond the realm of possibility.”

Then, faithfulness and kept promises mattered to Coulter. Now, not so much.

Coulter Touts “The Rules”

A stickler for details and the letter of the law (until Trump, that is – now, “THE RULES[6] no longer matter), Coulter has always stridently decried divorce, citing it’s close connection with adultery. Coulter explained:

“To be absolutely punctilious about the sort of Bible description of divorce, it is considered adultery because the ‘one and only’ is your one and only. So you may go through our little civil procedures but your second wife would be considered – I guess divorce would be better than adultery as long as you don’t re-marry because the marriage would technically be considered adultery.”[7]

What about Trump’s confessed adulterous affairs and two divorces?

Coulter Loves Outing Adulterers

Coulter also favors news outlets and tabloids exposing prominent figures as adulterers. She said, “I’m all for outing adulterers, whether it’s some Hollywood starlet telling on a politician. I love that.”[8]

An effusive Coulter continued, “Oh, yeah, I love that. It’s like having all these Bernie Goetzs of adultery out there. They’re preventing people from committing adultery for fear of being exposed.”

But Trump, her Savior,[9] is now off limits!

Coulter Condemns Rudy Giuliani

Indeed, Coulter regards divorce and adultery as disqualifying factors for public office.

In 2000, Coulter denounced Rudy Giuliani as an adulterer (“committed adulterer,” “chasing tail,” “pathetic,” “boob,” and “pig” “forever wetting [himself] in public”), Coulter ridiculed the appearance of his mistresses. Consider Coulter’s lengthy tirade against Giuliani’s mistresses:[10]

“It seems to me that once a woman puts her sexual attractiveness at issue by, for example, competing sexually for the husbands of other women, she’s made her relative pulchritude fair game. Indeed, it is impossible to comprehend why some Republicans are still defending Giuliani’s honor without taking note of how homely his mistresses are.” (Isn’t Coulter now defending Trump’s honor?)

Coulter’s diatribe continued: “On every possible scale – body, face, youthful appearance, accomplishments, style, pedigree, IQ – Giuliani’s wife is several orders of magnitude superior to his apparent mistresses. His latest acquisition is even more squat and frumpy than the last consort.”

Rudy Giuliani was a letch, but Donald Trump is a saint?

John the Baptist

In contrast to Coulter, John the Baptist was devoted to righteousness and holy living. John repeatedly condemned King Herod for his sexual deviancy – and lost his head for it.

As reported in the Gospel of John (6:16-18):

“But when Herod heard, he said, ‘This is John, whom I beheaded; he has been raised from the dead!’ For Herod himself had sent and laid hold of John, and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife; for he had married her. Because John had said to Herod, ‘It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.’”

Jesus persistently condemned adultery, going so far as to say, “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart (Mt. 5:27-28).”

Coulter once understood and agreed with that teaching, but now, for political purposes, Coulter calls evil good and good evil. Trump even lusts for his own daughter!

Less than a year ago, Coulter bragged, “I’ve never sucked up to anybody. I’ve always said what I believe.”[11]

(Sorry, Ann, but you’ve become the biggest suck-up in modern American history.)

No Better Than Trump!

You are (or become) who or what you worship.

Ann Coulter worships Donald Trump[1] and has become just like him.

No Better Than Trump

Coulter’s most recent column[2] demonstrates that she has no interest in truth or what’s right. Instead, it is all about self, self, self! Just like The Donald.

Her column was the most Orwellian[3] one I’ve ever read! (More to follow in a future column.)

One propagandistic quality and Alinskyite tactic contained therein was Coulter’s prevalent use of name-calling and ad hominem attack.[4] Employing those tactics, she defamed a truly honorable man (Ted Cruz)[5] and victimized,[6] yet again, a victim (Michelle Fields)[7] of assault by Trump’s campaign manager and death threats by Trump supporters.

Coulter once decried such behavior, asserting, “This is such a great issue. This is very important, how our society treats the rich and powerful – other than Al Gore and Bill Clinton, we know how they get treated: they can commit felonies and get away with it. But not everybody can! It’s not anarchy yet! We are still a nation of laws.”[8]

Now, Coulter sides with the rich and powerful against us mere mortals. (Coulter is one of them!)

Coulter once detested the Clintons for demonizing “bimbo eruptions” and “trailer park trash.” Now she does the very same thing on behalf of Trump. (Yet, Coulter claims that she never sucks up.)

Coulter has gone bonkers over Trump[9] since he announced his candidacy.

I Was Wrong!

Until this week, I believed that Coulter was better than Trump. No longer.

Indeed, Coulter is worse than Trump.

Why? Trump doesn’t know any better. He has always been a libertine, limousine liberal and a boorish, bullying buffoon. He doesn’t know any better. Trump doesn’t even know any of the conservative or Christian principles and ideals that Coulter has forgotten or forsaken.[10]

But Coulter does know better. She knows the lies she spews and the lives she damages with those lies, and, yet, she continues to lie anyway.[11]

It truly grieves me to see the person Ann Coulter has become.

There was a time when Coulter was a dynamic voice for conservative and Christian thought. Now, Coulter has become a Hollow Woman who is utterly clueless[12] (yet, she thinks she knows better than everyone else)![13]

Once passionate over First Things, now she is passionate about nothing.[14] (All is vanity!)

Thankfully, God offers Amazing Grace to all who come to Him.

Coulter v. Coulter on Trump’s Invincibility

Finding examples of Ann Coulter contradicting herself is easy, but finding another Coulter who refutes her is a rarity. Dr. Michael Coulter does just that.

Coulter v Coulter

Writing for the Center for Vision and Values, Dr. Coulter predicts “what would likely happen in a Donald Trump versus Hillary Clinton race: Clinton would win, and probably by a wide margin.”

Examining historical data, polling data, voting trends, and favorability ratings, Dr. Coulter concludes that “The Trump campaign is like one of those outlandish business ideas, like personal travel to the moon, that has some potential customers, but it doesn’t have a winning business plan.”

In contrast, Ms. Coulter recently tweeted: “We win or lose with Trump and only Trump.”

Ann Coulter is half-right: We lose “with Trump and only Trump.”

As I pointed out last July,[1] even if Trump wins the GOP nomination and general election, America and Conservatives lose. The Donald is a liberal fashioned in the image of Hillary and Barack. (Indeed, he is more grandiose than they, with “The” preceding his name.)

But the much more likely scenario, as Dr. Coulter points out, is a Trump defeat at the hands of whoever the Democrat nominee is.

Ms. Coulter, who hates every GOP candidate save Trump[2] (whom she blindly worships as her Savior),[3] should heed Dr. Coulter, who has facts and sound analysis on his side.

But Coulter is emotionally (and financially) invested in Trump.[4] Indeed, she has staked what’s left of her diminishing reputation and career[5] on Trump’s victory. Hence her willingness to sacrifice all of her conservative principles and Christian values[6] to support a bully[7] and a charlatan.[8]

Instead of supporting a genuine conservative (a proven constitutionalist and pro-lifer) like Ted Cruz,[9] Coulter supports a RINO who would betray her on every issue.[10]

A Trump nomination would spell doom for America, Conservatism, and Ann Coulter.

Support Ted Cruz!
