Coulter Turns 55 – or Zero?

Ann Coulter was born 55 years ago, today, on 12/8/1961. Coulter’s spiritual birth date is as yet undetermined.

ann-coulter-turns-55-or-zero

Chronologically, Ann is 55-years-old; spiritually, she may not even be a newborn.

Coulter received a strict Catholic education (K-8) at St. Aloysius Catholic School until she entered public school. She eventually rejected her father’s Catholicism in favor of her mother’s Presbyterian faith, yet, upon reaching adulthood, she apparently disengaged herself from religion altogether. The absence of an internal moral compass would forever plague her.

With the publication of Godless (2006), Coulter zealously expressed a newfound faith in God, one which was conveniently finely calibrated to her ideology, agenda, and career.

Her father passed away in 2008, after years of declining health from dementia. Her mother died the following year. Since then, Coulter’s religious and political views have become quite bizarre, suggesting that her religious beliefs – whatever they were as a child and young adult – were actually those of her parents but not something she herself truly believed.

Coulter has never been restrained by an internal moral compass. Rather, when she toed the line it was to please her parents, not God. With their passing, Coulter has liberated herself from all moral and religious constraints.

As Coulter puts it, “My mother passed away. I can say anything now.

Non-Christian Behavior

Coulter claims to be “an extraordinarily good Christian” and “a big Christian.”[1] (I’m surprised she hasn’t claimed to be a Yuge Christian, like her savior, Donald Trump.)

For a “Christian,” Coulter spends an ungodly amount of time attacking Christians for behaving like Christians.[2] Moreover, Coulter’s own version of the gospel[3] is decidedly different from that of traditional and historic Christianity.

Coulter defends Trump on virtually everything, irrespective of the truth, belying her claim, “I want to speak the truth.”[4] But then, truth has never been a high priority for Coulter.[5]

Coulter’s latest iteration of the gospel message of Jesus Christ casts into question her very definition of “evangelical” – a term she has actually applied to herself: “I don’t think the Republicans understand evangelicals. We don’t need to be coddled to constantly.”

Coulter denigrates evangelicals, claiming, “Evangelicals won’t come out in droves for him because he’s not having ecstasies on stage.”[6] She repeated, “You don’t have to have ecstasies on stage to impress a Christian.” Yet again: “You don’t have to have religious ecstasies on stage to get the Christian vote.”

Is that how Coulter views evangelicals?

But Coulter also shockingly implied that Christians don’t have to behave like Christians. She said, “Like the military, you don’t have to observe, you have to respect the military, respect what they do.”

Her words are somewhat confusing, but the implications of her words mirror her defense of Trump’s unchristian behavior: “Some Christians want proof that a candidate has memorized Bible verses. I want a candidate who lives by this verse: ‘So do not be afraid of them.’”[7]

Coulter, again, eschews character and godliness to further her political and ideological agenda. She relegates integrity to the margins and places expediency front-and-center. In doing so, Coulter demonstrates her own faithlessness to not only the principles and doctrines of her faith but to her professed faith itself.

Fruit of the Spirit

Coulter boasts of being a Christian, yet doesn’t act like one. Are we to believe her claims or our eyes?

In Galatians 5:22-23, the apostle Paul describes the character traits of a Christian: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.”

Coulter appears bereft of the fruit of the Spirit. (Perhaps this is more hyperbole than reality, but then, so is much of Ann’s work.)

Love. If Coulter loves anything, she loves to hate. A master of polemics, vitriol is her passion. Sarcasm – cutting – is her favorite form of humor.

Joy. Coulter appears most joyful when she is in the spotlight (narcissist seeking glory[8]) and when she is emasculating her foes (and they are legion).

Peace. Peace seems to elude Ann. She is well known for her diatribes on matters great and small. (Even soccer filled her heart with rage.)

Longsuffering. The very moment someone steps out of line, Coulter instantly launches into a Twitter tirade. Those tirades are frequent and they are often ugly.

Kindness. Coulter is not particularly well known for her kindness. Indeed, Coulter lacks simple charity.

Goodness. If anti-Semitism, anti-Catholicism, and nativism count as “goodness,” then Coulter is filled to the brim.

Faithfulness. Coulter is renowned for betraying[9] her friends, her clients, her readers, and voters in both local and national elections. Similarly, Coulter betrays the very people of God, attacking their godliness, calling them traitors, and facilitating their martyrdom.

Gentleness. Another spiritual trait lacking in Coulter’s repertoire, gentleness was not to be found for Gold Star Families who are “immigrants.”

Self-control. Coulter’s temper tantrums (on-air, in commentary, and on social media) are inescapable. If Coulter doesn’t get her way – look out! Self-control? No. Control freak?[10] Yes. (The odd thing is, Coulter wants to control everything except herself!)

What has Ann actually accomplished with all of her nonsense? How many lives has she damaged or destroyed? How much damage has Ann done to herself and to those she loves?

The apostle Paul exhorts each of us to focus on what is most important in life: faith, hope, and love. Paul wrote (1 Cor. 13:1-3, emphasis added):

“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.”

Coulter sees herself – and more importantly, wants to be regarded – as “an extraordinarily good Christian.” But worldly people are incapable of living a godly life. The fruit of the Spirit is the fruit of the Spirit. The worldly cannot behave in a godly manner.

We expect Coulter to act her age – and she does: 55 (chronologically) and zero (spiritually).

May Jesus touch Ann’s heart this Christmas season and fill her with His love, joy, and peace.

Coulter Doesn’t Trust Trump

Ann Coulter, the author of In Trump We Trust, doesn’t trust Trump.

coulter-doesnt-trust-trump

She never really did.

Coulter has always cared about power and always cared about credit. So much so that she has sought power most of her adult life and claimed credit where it is not due. Coulter is an elite’s elite who loves wielding power.

Her decades-long pattern of behavior continued with her promotion of Donald Trump (and herself).

Coulter, the Bully

First, Coulter browbeat the electorate to vote for Trump, insisting he was the only person who could save America. Now, Coulter bullies, cajoles, and threatens Trump to do what she wants done.

Let’s remember the context. For years, Coulter did the very same thing with Romney. Remember, Coulter was careful to tell Romney that he owed her (personally). Coulter rammed Romney down our throats, promising us that he was the best and would get the job done, all the while warning Romney that he better do that very thing (see Case Study #6, Propaganda: Orwell in the Age of Ann Coulter).

But did Coulter ever trust Trump?

Hardly. Coulter repeatedly told Trump that he’d better do what he promised her he would do because of all the sacrifices she had made for him.

According to The Times, Coulter told Trump, “I’m the only one losing money trying to get you in the White House, you’re going to listen to me.” After Trump’s immigration flip-flop, a piqued Coulter joked, “He just said something stupid, which he’s done before, and he will do again … he does need a little slap now and then.”

Coulter’s face-slaps frequently include Twitter tirades and jeremiads against the only person in the world who can save America (according to her).

Coulter even threatened impeachment against her beloved Savior:  “The wall and deporting illegals … renegotiating trade deals and not starting pointless wars – those are the big ones. If he betrays us on those, they’ll impeach him and there’ll be nobody to defend him.”

Coulter, the Terrified

Coulter is absolutely terrified that she backed the wrong horse, that Trump will prove as unscrupulous as she is, thus jeopardizing what’s left of her own career. Coulter’s fate is inextricably linked to Trump’s.

In her last column in November, Coulter ominously described “How Trump Could Ruin His Presidency.” How? But not doing what Coulter tells him. Coulter succinctly wrote:

“He’d better!”

Also, “But if he breaks a major campaign promise, his supporters will turn on him with a blind ferocity, dwarfing their rage toward Jeb! because Trump’s is the more exquisite con. He will have duped them. And he will never, ever, ever get them back.”

Also, “If Trump betrays voters on immigration, he can have as many rallies as he wants, but Americans will say, Been there, done that — you screwed us. He will never escape the stink of broken campaign promises.”

Finally, “Whether he’s listening or not, his supporters are screaming: TRUMP! NOW! TAKE THE SHOT!!!”

Can you hear Coulter screaming?

Free Republic on Coulter

In the 1990s, members of Free Republic loved Coulter, called her the “goddess of the conservative movement,” and cherished everything she said and did. That has no longer been true for many years.

Here are a few highlights from just one Free Republic thread:

Ann can be NUTS, at times ( look how much she LOVED and pushed for that POS Romney!) and is ALWAYS looking for something to rant about. She does poorly when things are going well.”

“Hannity wanted to know WHY since she has Trump’s ear, she didn’t just call him up and since she knows his closest adviser/team why she just didn’t call them. She sputtered and fumed and then claimed that she had and went back to attacking. Perhaps ‘dear’ Ann isn’t as ‘CONNECTED’ as she claims to be. ;^)”

“I don’t dispute that she’s smart, but I’ll be honest with you and say she has a really grating way about her. If Hillary Clinton is ‘America’s Ex-Wife,’ I’d say Ann Coulter is ‘America’s Ex-Girlfriend.’

She’s being a stupid snowflake….demanding that SHE be allowed to pick Trump’s team; not him. And she just proved, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that she holds NO sway and worse…is NOT ‘in’ with Trump. She’s a damned DRAMA QUEEN and a poser.”

“She is just as world class a troll at generating attention and self-promotion as Trump is. Ann Coulter, first and foremost, is going to do what is in Ann Coulter’s financial interests, she lives by talking head appearances, book sales, social media, web sites, all of which demand promotion and the setting of narratives. Coulter’s tweet means nothing, other than she needs attention. Stop worrying.”

She thinks she is on the inside, but she is on the outside lookin in.”

“Ann, go get your head meds and eat the entire damn bottle.”

“She’s a brilliant writer but…this woman is just scitzo. I don’t know how else to put it.”

Sacrifice Deferred

In yet another attack against Gold Star Families, Ann Coulter claims (10/5/16): “I must have accidentally been out of the country for a few days because I missed the part where Trump insulted the Khans.” (Coulter continues to put herself and our country to shame.)

sacrifice-deferred

Overlooking his slight against Ghazala Khan for not speaking at the DNC convention, Trump’s very life is an affront to all those who have served in the U.S. military. Consider Trump’s response to a Gold Star Father.

Khizr Khan said: “Our son, Humayun, had dreams … of being a military lawyer, but he put those dreams aside the day he sacrificed his life to save the lives of his fellow soldiers. … You have sacrificed nothing and no one.”

Trump’s response was typically arrogant and boastful. The braggart bragged: “I think I made a lot of sacrifices. I work very, very hard. I’ve created thousands and thousands of jobs, tens of thousands of jobs.”

Remember how we all laughed when Gwyneth Paltrow claimed, “You come across [online comments] about yourself and about your friends, and it’s a very dehumanizing thing … It’s almost like how, in war, you go through this bloody, dehumanizing thing, and then something is defined out of it.”

Paltrow knows nothing about war and Trump knows nothing about self-sacrifice. Trump’s boast is just as ludicrous as Paltrow’s, equating the pursuit of entrepreneurial profits with giving one’s life for one’s country.

Instead of courageously serving his country, Trump obtained five draft deferments to deliberately avoid doing his duty to God and country.

Having escaped the dangers of battle and potentially death or disfigurement, Trump later spoke of the dangers of living in America (emphasis added): “I’ve been so lucky in terms of that whole world … It is a dangerous world out there – it’s scary, like Vietnam. Sort of like the Vietnam era. It is my personal Vietnam. I feel like a great and very brave soldier.”

Indeed, Trump claims that his attendance at New York Military Academy provided “more training militarily than a lot of the guys that go into the military.”

Donald Trump’s whole life is an insult the Khans and to the brave men and women who daily risk their lives and sacrifice their dreams to defend our freedom. For Trump to equate his hard work with their genuine sacrifice exposes a black hole in his heart and a nonexistent conscience.

Trump is a B.S.-er, Not Liar

Straight from the horse’s mouth, Donald Trump really is full of B.S.

trump-is-a-bs-er

Ann Coulter told the audience of The Drive Home (9/29/16), “I think what Trump is is a BSer, not a liar, by which I mean, it’s rhetorical.” She went on to claim that Trump is guilty of hyperbole and jokes, but not lying.

If only that were true.

Coulter has had to contend for over 15 months with Trump’s often bizarre formulations. Coulter has called her candidate “mental” and she “wanted to shoot” her TV prompted by Trump’s words and actions.

Coulter has admitted that Trump is a fraud, yet defends his every misstep, from mocking disabled journalists to defending misogyny. For her, death threats are fun and threatening to nuke Europe a blast.

Never forget, Coulter remains a propagandist for Trump, who, at heart is a bully. Coulter herself is the face of the Alt-Right.

Truly a match made in Hell.

Coulter’s Colors of the Rainbow

In a fascinating interview with Scottie Nell Hughes, Coulter revealed her racial confusion and racist inclinations. She said, “No normal person thinks of themself as Hispanic. They think of themselves as ‘I’m Mexican,’ ‘I’m Cuban,’ ‘I’m Ecuadorian.’ [Hispanic] is an invention of the political parties.”

coulters-colors-of-the-rainbow

Really? Coulter continued:

“Trump transcended this. He’s appealing to ‘Hispanics’ [Coulter placed air quotes around Hispanics], blacks, Asians, Americans, white Americans.”

If Hispanics don’t think of themselves as Hispanic but of various nationalities, then why is that not true of blacks? Aren’t they Kenyan, or Jamaican, or Haitian, or Nigerian, or …. [fill in the blank]? Yet, Coulter doesn’t deny that they are black. (In fact, she also claims that America still owes blacks for slavery, even those who emigrated after emancipation.) So, why deny that Hispanics are “Hispanic?”

What about whites? Are whites, as Coulter implies, homogenous? Are there no cultural and linguistic differences between Swedes, Polacks, Britons, French, and Italians? Yet, when it suits her, Coulter emphasizes those differences, always in favor of English WASP culture. Moreover, Coulter actively courts “white” votes to the exclusion of non-white ones.

Does anyone say “I’m Asian?” No. They refer to their national origins, whether China, Korea, Japan, Nepal, or elsewhere. Would Coulter suggest “Asia” “is an invention of the political parties?” Hardly.

It’s funny. When Coulter listed peoples to whom Trump appeals, she said: “Hispanics, blacks, Asians, Americans, white Americans.” When she said “Americans,” she quickly corrected herself and qualified it as “white Americans,” almost as if she doesn’t regard non-whites as Americans, or, perhaps more accurately, to emphasize the group of Americans she values most: whites.

Whites are crucial for Coulter’s restoration of a WASP (i.e., white) America.

Apparently, “Hispanics” (don’t forget those air quotes), blacks, Asians and other non-whites aren’t real Americans to Coulter.

Coulter – Face of the Alt-Right

Donald Trump’s chief propagandist and cheerleader, Ann Coulter, is the face of the alt-Right.

Face of the alt-Right

Coulter has been a prominent member of the alt-Right community for decades. Over the past two years, Coulter’s beliefs and character have been exposed as never before. This is particularly problematic given her position as advisor to and promoter of the GOP presidential nominee. Her current book, In Trump We Trust, is a fawning tribute to failing candidate.

The alt-Right, according to Jonah Goldberg, “want[s] to replace the conservative movement.” That is Coulter’s goal, too: Destroy and replace.[1] Following are the core beliefs and attitudes of the alt-Right movement as exemplified by Coulter.

Anti-Semitic

Coulter’s anti-Semitic roots go back to the early 1990s           [2] when she worked for, consecutively, two Jewish-run law firms in New York City. Her anti-Semitism exploded[3] last year[4] during the presidential debates and recently re-emerged[5] to the point[6] where a long-time friend tweeted, “I’m ashamed ever to have known you.”[7]

Anti-Catholic

Once raised Catholic,[8] Coulter now expresses deep animosity toward Catholics.[9] She calls them “moral show-offs” and “fake Christians.” [10]Her anti-Catholic sentiments have only grown worse[11] as she seeks to create a New Know-Nothing Party.[12]

Nativist

Coulter’s New Know-Nothing Party is modeled after the mid-19th century version, complete with its America First, anti-immigrant rhetoric and platform. Her nativism runs deep[13] as she hates all immigrants[14] and even hates Christian missionaries[15] for going on overseas mission trips to save lives.

Coulter even trashed native-born Gov. Nikki Haley,[16] calling her an “ignorant immigrant.” Haley’s roots weren’t pure enough, unlike Coulter’s which trace back to the Puritans.[17]

Racist

Race figures prominently in Coulter’s worldview[18] and remarkably so. Yet, she remains very confused in her racial constructions,[19] regards diversity as white,[20] seeks a restoration of a white WASP nation,[21] and argues that she and Trump deserve a “racism credit”[22] for seeking to help blacks even as she advocates for her own (white) racial grievance industry.[23]

Make America White Again

Neo-Confederate

To that end, Coulter adopts and furthers neo-Confederate ideas,[24] continually defends the Confederacy and Confederate flag, and has actually confused the Confederate and American flags![25]

Coulter’s (and Trump’s) America is one where the elite few (like Coulter and Trump) would determine the nature of our national identity[26] at the expense of individual liberty,[27] the Constitution,[28] and our founding ideals.[29]

If one is truly America first, then one must be #NeverTrump!
