Ann Coulter’s Upside Down World

Erstwhile ultra-conservative Ann Coulter now worships faux conservative Donald Trump as her Savior and claims genuine conservatives are traitors. (It used to be she called liberals traitors; now it’s conservatives!)

Upside Down World

An avowed pro-lifer, Coulter has berated and defamed pro-lifers for nearly two decades.

A fierce opponent of Obamacare, now Coulter is ready to embrace Trumpcare.

Once an advocate for federalism and limited government, Coulter now shills for a statist who would wield his own pen and a phone.

A self-proclaimed constitutional attorney, Coulter defames the only constitutionalist running for president while championing the only “Republican” running against the Constitution.

A virulent anti-immigration, anti-amnesty activist, Coulter defends Trump who did and does support amnesty. This is Coulter’s signature issue – her obsession – and she backs someone who unquestionably supports amnesty while she continually thinks he doesn’t.

Coulter is lost in her own little world into which she won’t allow reality to enter.

Who is really surprised? Coulter has been supporting RINOs and spouting propaganda for years. Now she has gone incredibly far over the edge, losing more and more credibility.

Will the real Ann Coulter please stand up!

Trump’s Phony Wall

Donald Trump’s signature issue is immigration and border security. On that issue (as on most issues), he is a fraud!

Trump promises to build a yuuge wall – with a big door!

Trump promises to deport all illegal aliens – and bring them back!

Phony wall

Yuuge Wall with an Open Door

The centerpiece of Trump’s immigration policy (and the major plank of his platform) is building a wall. In his words, “I will build a great, great wall on our southern border and I will have Mexico pay for that wall.”

An exuberant Ann Coulter, Trump’s greatest supporter, has introduced him at several rallies. Coulter gushed, “I love the idea of the Great Wall of Trump. I want to have a two drink minimum. Make it a big worldwide tourist attraction and everyday live drone shows whenever anyone tries to cross the border.”[1]

But will the Great Wall of Trump ever come to pass?

But let’s not forget the fine print. Trump added, “I don’t mind having a big, fat beautiful door right in that wall so that people can come into this country legally.”

That’s right, a great, great wall with a big, fat door. Border security with a sieve.

The Donald’s son, Eric Trump, explained the purpose of that door: “ The point isn’t just deporting them, it’s deporting them and letting them back in legally. He’s been so clear about that and I know the liberal media wants to misconstrue it, but it’s deporting them and letting them back legally.

Ironically, as reported by Ed Straker, “ it was Cruz, not Trump, who first pushed a border fence not just with rhetoric, but with legislation, and it was Trump who started talking about the need for a border fence after Cruz started pushing for it. Because up to then, Trump was a pro-amnesty liberal democrat.”

Touchback Deportation & Amnesty

Inextricably intertwined with Trump’s monumental, Eighth Wonder of the World, wall is his policy on immigration – what the wall will secure Americans against. Having a “great, great wall” with a “big, fat beautiful door” kind of defeats the purpose of the wall in the first place.

Trump repeatedly promises to deport massive numbers of illegal immigrants – and to let the good ones return. Amnesty has been his position since at least August 2013, when he tweeted: “Congress must protect our borders first. Amnesty should be done only if the border is secure and illegal immigration has stopped.”

Yes, Trump actually used the verboten word “amnesty.” (Don’t tell Ann Coulter. She just might get upset. Why? She loves Trump,[2] asserting that he is the only candidate opposed to amnesty.[3])

But Trump endorses amnesty. He said, “I would get people out and then have an expedited way of getting them back into the country so they can be legal…. I want to move ’em out, and we’re going to move ’em back in and let them be legal.”

That’s right. Trump wants to expedite the process for illegal aliens to become legal in America. He reiterated his views, saying, “I would expedite [the process], because some of these people (illegal aliens) are fantastic people. … So what I’d do is that I would expedite it. … I want to expedite it so they can come back in legally.”

Cruz, on the other hand, fully opposes amnesty: “My position is very simple. I oppose amnesty. I oppose citizenship. I oppose legalization … Today, tomorrow, forever. I believe in the rule of law.”

Trump, and his shill Coulter, continually castigate Marco Rubio for his participation in the Gang of Eight bill, neglecting to mention Trump’s own support of that very same bill by financing its sponsors! As reported by Red State, Trump “proposes roughly the same wall that was already put forth in the Gang of 8 bill (roughly 1,000 miles).”

Moreover, Trump is not the restrictionist Coulter imagines. Though he has spoken out against H-1B visas, Trump has “sought to import at least 1,100 foreign workers on temporary visas since 2000.”

It is not surprising that a large percentage of Nevadan Hispanics voted for Trump, given his pro-amnesty views and his history of hiring illegal aliens to cater to his personal and professional needs. Trump admits, “You know, the truth is I have a lot of illegals working for me in Miami.”

Trump employs illegal aliens at the expense of American workers. If Trump will not build a figurative wall around his business enterprises to protect American workers, why should we believe he will build an actual wall along our southern border to defend American sovereignty?

Red State also reported that, “in 1991, a judge found that Trump has conspired with business associates to hire illegal workers and cheat them of their pay.”

Trump also favors accepting Syrian refugees, insisting, “I hate the concept of it, but on a humanitarian basis, you have to [because] it’s living in hell in Syria. There’s no question about it. They’re living in hell, and something has to be done.”

Yes, the Great Wall of Trump is a mirage, one worthy of a Las Vegas casino.

Update: See Ian Tuttle’s excellent analysis of Trump’s “flexible” immigration and H-1B visa policies. David French explores the lunacy of believing anything Trump promises about anything – particularly immigration.

Update: Andrew McCarthy delved deeply into Trump’s “plan” to build a wall, demonstrating how nonsensical, anti-Constitutional, and authoritarian it really is.

Coulter Admits Trump is a Fraud

Ann Coulter admits that Donald Trump is a FRAUD!

Trump is a Fraud

In yesterday’s column, Coulter wrote, “That’s why it doesn’t matter when Trump pops off and says things that are not conservative orthodoxy – or even true!”

Her very next sentence begins, “Even if you think Trump is a libertine, shallow narcissist …”

So, according to Coulter, Trump is not a conservative, says things that are not “even true” and may well be “a libertine, shallow narcissist.”

(Strikingly, Coulter does not care that Trump’s claims are not “even true,” yet she blindly believes in his empty promises. Devoid of truth herself, Coulter believes what she wants to believe!)

As National Review observes, “Donald Trump is a habitual liar, and the thing about habitual liars is that they lie habitually.” Those selfsame words could easily apply to Coulter, who shares various[1] Trumpian traits of rhetoric and style, narcissism and hubris.[2] Hence, she is smitten with her mirror image (and falling prey to her very own tricks).[3]

Nevertheless, Coulter considers Trump her – and America’s – Savior![4]

Yet another Coulter-backed RINO, a Trump nomination for the GOP or a third-party run would spell doom for Conservatism and America as we once knew it.[5] Coulter knows this and wants this.[6]

Why? It furthers her ambitions to recreate a WASP America.[7]

More importantly, Trump fulfills her fantasy of being the Harriet Beecher Stowe of the New Trump Party.[8]

Trump’s claim to fame is being anti-Establishment. Trump is not anti-Establishment. Trump IS the Establishment. Trump epitomizes corporate cronyism and vulture capitalism.

Trump is about as anti-Establishment as Communist China was anti-Communist during its internecine power struggle with the Soviet Union.

This election has never been a battle between Trump and the Establishment, but rather, it is a power struggle within and among the elites. (Ted Cruz is the real anti-Establishment warrior in this contest!)

Coulter’s Desperate Lies About Cruz

Coulter is at it again – telling more lies about Ted Cruz to protect her Savior, Donald Trump.[1]

Coulter’s Desperate Lies About Cruz

First she lied about Cruz’s eligibility for President,[2] then called him a midget,[3] then she lied about the Supreme Court and Natural Born Citizens.[4]

Now, Coulter is lying about what Cruz said and the fact that Trump has repeatedly promoted universal health care.

Among Coulter’s many tweets lying about and disparaging Ted Cruz (emphasis added):

“This is shocking. Cruz is a sleazy, Rovian liar. You can look up the debates. Trump never said ANYTHING like this – bit.ly/1o22hL6” – Ann Coulter, 11:14 AM – 11 Feb 2016

“Trump insults opponents; he doesn’t lie about them. Cruz is a despicable liar – see video: bit.ly/1o22hL6” – Ann Coulter, 11:15 AM – 11 Feb 2016

“See my Facebook page for transcript of what Trump actually said about healthcare, compared to Cruz’s outright lies on Coyote News last night” – Ann Coulter, 11:29 AM – 11 Feb 2016

Ted Cruz lies like a Clinton — see my Facebook page for details.” – Ann Coulter, 11:33 AM – 11 Feb 2016

“FULL transcripts of Cruz’s lies & Trump’s actual words on my webpage. I wanted to like Cruz, but this is despicable. anncoulter.com” – Ann Coulter, 12:29 PM – 11 Feb 2016

“RT @bdean1468: This @tedcruz delegate has had enough of his snake like campaign and lies. Must read! csteventucker.wordpress.com/2016/02/11/no-…” – Ann Coulter, 9:52 PM – 11 Feb 2016

Coulter can’t even get her own lies right!

Coulter’s provided transcripts of the relative portions from Trump’s debate and his very own words contradict her claims!

Trump said (as provided on Coulter’s website), “As far as single payer, it works in Canada. It works incredibly well in Scotland. It could have worked in a different age, which is the age you’re talking about here.” Trump added, “And then we have to take care of the people that can’t take care of themselves. And I will do that through a different system.”

What kind of “different system?” One which provides universal health care at government expense.

Last September, Trump said, “I am going to take care of everybody. I don’t care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody’s going to be taken care of much better than they’re taken care of now.” Trump explained, “The government’s gonna pay for it.”

Trump said (as provided on Coulter’s website), “What I do say is, there will be a certain number of people that will be on the street dying and as a Republican, I don’t want that to happen. We’re going to take care of people that are dying on the street because there will be a group of people that are not going to be able to even think in terms of private or anything else and we’re going to take care of those people. And I think everybody on this stage would have to agree you’re not going to let people die, sitting in the middle of a street in any city in this country.

Ted Cruz was right! Ann Coulter is wrong! Again![5]

Coulter Crazy Over Trump

Unusually delusional even for herself,[1] propagandist Ann Coulter claims that Donald Trump won in Iowa![2]

Coulter Crazy Over Trump

Though Coulter acknowledges that year’s GOP presidential contest is now a three-man race, she claims it is between “Trump, Trump, and Trump.”

Nevertheless, Coulter ruthlessly attacks Rubio for his “high heels” and “big ears,” and calls him a “sweaty little liar.” (So much for taking the high ground.)

Acting as The Donald’s pit-bull, Coulter rejects Cruz’s historic victory as inconsequential and repeats her repeatedly-disproven birther lie[3] in order to derail Cruz’s momentum. Coulter has a long history of lying about the law[4] and fabricating “facts.”[5]

Trump and Coulter, bullies united in a cause.[6] Remember, Coulter has “blind worship[7] for Trump!

It’s no wonder why Coulter has become irrelevant.[8]

Trump’s Path to Defeat

Ted Cruz[1] trounced Donald “I Am A Winner” Trump in Iowa last night. Even Marco Rubio almost routed Trump. The Donald’s inevitability and invincibility proved to be ephemeral narratives. (Donald and Hillary are oh so similar!)[2]

Defeat

It is easy to see Trump’s path to defeat: Iowa – loss to Cruz (and, almost, Rubio); New Hampshire – loss to Rubio (or, perhaps, Cruz); South Carolina – loss to Cruz.(or, perhaps, Rubio); Nevada – loss to Cruz (or, perhaps, Rubio).

What kind of bounces will Cruz and Rubio get from their yuuge victories over Trump in Iowa? (Rubio had a massive expectations victory over the vainglorious Trump.)

How will Trump’s ego-bursting defeat in Iowa change his campaign and message? He will necessarily attack Rubio to court the moderate vote in New Hampshire. (But Cruz still poses a distinct threat to his ascendancy to the throne, er, presidency. A strong showing by Cruz in the “Live Free or Die” State will strike fear in Trump’s heart.)

Trump’s unfamiliarity with Christian beliefs and practices will augur ill in South Carolina.

Even Nevada can become problematic for the “I Am A Winner” candidate if his inevitable victories turn into disastrous defeats.

Will Trump still try to bully his way into the Oval Office?[3] (Can a leopard change its spots?)

We can expect Trump to push the bogus birther hoax[4] whenever he feels threatened by Cruz.

Will Trump supplement his own “hope and change[5] message with specific policy positions? Can he, at this late stage, prove his conservative credentials?[6] Appealing to patriotism is not enough.[7] An understanding of America’s history, our Constitution, our Christian heritage,[8] and the world around us is essential. These Trump lacks.

Trump is only the latest billionaire trying to buy himself into the White House, but the American people are far too smart for him.

How to Talk to a Bully (if you must)

The Donald (Trump, that is) is at it again. This time he plays the victim of a Vast Right-Wing Establishment Conspiracy. (What other traits does he share with Hillary?[1])

Bully

Someone should tell Trump that exhibiting a persecution complex[2] is not particularly appealing for a presidential candidate.

Piqued at sarcasm and hyperbole from Fox News, which so humorously lampooned Trump’s self-evident habit of demonizing his foes (always in a yuuuge way!), Trump revealed just how thin-skinned he really is.

Even his staunchest ally, Ann Coulter, has proven that she is little more than a humorless ideologue. Coulter’s forte is her lightning-quick wit, which balances Trump’s more thundering and blunt-force-trauma brand of humor.

But Coulter, who has perfected the Orwellian technique[3] of carpet-bombing “enemies of the moment,” often with hyperbole and sarcasm, now seems oblivious to the very types of rhetoric which she employs so effortlessly.

Fox News Press Release

What prompted such fear and loathing from Trump and his surrogates?

Fox News issued this press release:

“We learned from a secret back channel that the Ayatollah and Putin both intend to treat Donald Trump unfairly when they meet with him if he becomes president – a nefarious source tells us that Trump has his own secret plan to replace the Cabinet with his Twitter followers to see if he should even go to those meetings.”

What was Coulter’s response to “the press release an allegedly professional news organization?”

“So when Fox issued a smart-ass press release yesterday, Trump walked. He decided to do a charity event for veterans instead – which will have a lot more viewers than any debate sans Trump.”[4]

Chiding Fox for “such a sophomoric attack” in its “trivial and self-important press release,” the queen of snippy soundbites decries its “snippy press release.”

Speaking on MSNBC, Coulter complained about this “shocking” press release, claiming, “monopolies can get arrogant and there does seem to be a little bit of arrogance here.[5]

Talking to a Bully

Speaking of arrogance (which Coulter and Trump have in spades!), when did narcissism become a virtue? Or brash pomposity? Why do we listen to nattering narcissists and blustering blowhards?[6]

Humility is a trait neither Trump nor Coulter possess. Both refuse to “back down” under any circumstances. Both have proudly claimed they have no need of repentance. Both demonize their foes. And both claim to be victims in the aftermath of their own self-generated controversies.

Coulter has claimed to blindly worship her Savior, Donald Trump,[7] and continually extols his courage, love of country, and sense of humor. But Fox’s humor-laden press release is not funny? Perhaps it hit too close to the mark!

Fox News was spot on! If Trump can’t debate conservatives in a conservative-friendly foreign, how can he stand up to tyrants and terrorists at home and abroad? Trump can dish it out but he can’t take it.

The “allegedly professional news organization,” as Coulter put it, said nothing more controversial than Trump has been saying since he announced his candidacy. Trump’s words (like Coulter’s) are designed to provoke. They are provocative for provocation’s sake (and to generate publicity).

Still, Coulter constantly defends herself and Trump, claiming their most outrageous remarks are “just jokes.” For Coulter and Trump, calling people “bimbos” is standard fare.[8]

Mockery is the best way to talk to a bully![9]

Trump – Phony Candidate!

Neither Coulter nor Trump are above lying to achieve their goals: the bogus birther charge is exhibit one.[10]

Trump and Coulter believe that sheer will to powerdevoid of conservative principles – will lead to their victory and America’s salvation. Hubris saves[11] (in their minds)! But America can ill afford yet another big government, crony capitalist RINO.[12]

Coulter credits herself with giving Trump his message[13] and views herself as the Harriet Beecher Stowe to Trump’s Lincoln.[14] But Trump is no Lincoln (or Reagan) and Coulter is no Stowe.

Trump has proven his aversion to Christian character, conduct, and creed. His authoritarian nature, pronouncements, and promises seem devoid of deference to the Constitution that he would have to swear to uphold. (Isn’t one Obama enough?)

Trump’s flawed financial background (how many bankruptcies?) and New York (liberal social and fiscal) Values should give pause to any conservative contemplating a Trump presidency. He is a political opportunist adept at self-promotion.

At best, Trump’s Christian, conservative, and constitutionalist credentials are sparse. Very sparse indeed.

Trump has nothing in common with the Great Emancipator or the Great Communicator.[15] There is no there, there. Accomplished hucksters need not apply!

Update: After his ignominious defeat in Iowa, a chagrined Trump blamed the Iowa voters for his abysmal performance.

Ben Carson is a White Guilt Candidate

In a remarkable appearance on the Mark Simone Show, Coulter reiterated her belief that GOP presidential candidate Ben Carson is a nominee merely because he is black. Earlier this year, Coulter claimed that Carson and Fiorina were candidates only because one is black, the other female.[1]

Carson White Guilt

On Simone’s show, Coulter argued:

“I think it’s another White Guilt Candidate with Ben Carson. I mean, he’s a lovely man, but – and a very impressive man – but there are a lot of lovely, impressive people out there who aren’t presidential. We go through this every Republican cycle, with Colin Powell, and Herman Cain, and now Ben Carson.”[2]

Coulter is so beset by her own version of identity politics that she must think Republicans are inherently racist and sexist.[3]

Yet, Coulter projects her own dysfunctional attitudes upon conservatives, chiding them: “Republicans have got to get out of this identity politics game – oh, we’ve gotta have a woman on the ticket, we’ve gotta have a black on the ticket – No! That’s not our party.”[4]

If anything, Coulter’s pride and arrogance[5] continue to grow as she sees herself as the one person in America who knows what is best for the nation fighting against all those opposed to her worldview and agenda.

Ann Coulter’s Scott Brown Out

This year’s GOP election wave left New Hampshire candidate Scott Brown in the undertow. Brown – Ann Coulter’s favorite candidate – lost, despite Coulter’s valiant efforts to push him to victory.

ScottBrown

Enraptured with Brown, Coulter gushed, “Scott Brown in New Hampshire – my total love.”[1]

“[Scott Brown is] a fantastic candidate” Coulter enthusiastically told a talk show audience.[2] “He’s fantastic on immigration. He’s fantastic on Obamacare. … Scott Brown is such a fantastic candidate. … I think he’s fantastic on the single most important issue that he’s raised.”

Coulter’s primary, overarching issue – amnesty – failed to garner the election outcome she envisioned, even with such a “fantastic” candidate.

Coulter continued her praise: “And he’s well-spoken.”

Coulter devoted an entire column promoting Brown by attacking his rival. In it, she concluded, “The time to vote for freedom – for Scott Brown – is now.”[3]

In one election-focused column, Coulter highlighted and endorsed Brown, writing,

“Everyone reading this column has got to donate to Scott Brown immediately.”[4] Lest anyone underestimate the urgency of her plea, Coulter added another emphatic sentence:

Donate. Right now!”

Explaining that Brown, “a very strong candidate,” was “‘the 41st vote’ against Obamacare,” Coulter underscored, “but more than any other Senate candidate this year, Brown is running against amnesty. Even with a tidal wave of new welfare cases pouring across our border, Brown is one of the few candidates smart enough to make immigration an issue.”

Brown, the “smart” candidate, lost.

Supports Fake Conservatives

Conservatives have long questioned Coulter’s obsession with RINOs, from Chris Christie to Mitt Romney. Even now, Coulter supports Romney for president in 2016. When recently asked about that possibility, Coulter exclaimed, “I hope so. Oh, I hope so.[5]

Coulter also thought Romney was a fantastic and ideal candidate.

As a Massachusetts senator, Brown voted against tax cuts, supported gun control legislation, considered same-sex marriage and Roe v. Wade settled law, and voted with the Republicans only 54% of the time.

Principles matter. But it appears principled conservatives do not matter to Coulter. She is too quick to follow after the money, the glitter, and the charm, and to thereby overlook the importance of substance.

Hopefully, she will shed her RINO affections, stop attacking the Tea Party, and start embracing the Conservatism that she once so eloquently championed.

Update. In her post-Election Day column, Coulter defended Scott Brown at length, again asserting that he “was such a fantastic candidate, aggressively denouncing amnesty and open borders, that he managed to single-handedly turn a safe-seat for the Democrats into a bloodbath. He is surely responsible for at least one Republican senate win by forcing Democrats to divert precious resources to New Hampshire.”

But Coulter repeatedly urged her readers to contribute to Brown’s campaign, thereby diverting precious resources from other GOP campaigns. Most winning GOP candidates opted against emulating Brown’s immigration stance, while Brown, following Coulter’s immigration-as-the-single-issue strategy, lost.

GOP winners took advantage of national disapproval with Obama and his policies while emphasizing significant local issues of the moment.

Ann Coulter Goes Off Half-Cocked on Tea Party

Ann Coulter was off of national television for over two months – and she should have stayed in her “bat cave.”[1]

In her return debut, Coulter hailed Mitt Romney as the great conservative hope for 2016. Responding to the suggestion by Bill O’Reilly that Romney might again be the GOP nominee for president, Coulter exclaimed, “I hope so. Oh, I hope so.[2]

I hope so?

Oh, I hope so???

Romney Rave

Coulter’s former fans on Free Republic took her to task for this lunacy.

“Good Lord, the one Republican politician in all of the United States who can’t run against Obamacare and Ann Coulter wants him to run again.”

“ann is a pod person.”

“This is about year 8 that Ann has been pushing Mitt. Someone should point out to her that during his 22 years of campaigning, he has won a single election with less than 50% and was driven from office that he wanted to win reelection to, exiting with 34% approval and losing the seat to the democrats after having been the fourth Republican governor in a row.”

“Ann thinks Mitt’s last campaign against the worst president in America’s history was impressive. She especially likes the way he defined his principles and initiatives in contrast to Obama, and how he aggressively countered Obama’s campaign and policies.”

Coulter is all over the map. She lost it long ago. ‘Romney would be great in 2016, or Cruz.’ That makes no sense. When she makes sense, she must be viewed as undependable, politically toxic, since she can turn on a dime.”

Tea Party Tempest

Three days later, on Hannity, Coulter blamed GOP consultants and, principally, the Tea Party for previous Republican defeats.

“The reason this election is so important is because we have blown Senate seats – I say ‘we’ – you have the Republican consultants on one hand you cannot trust because they’re beholden to the Chamber of Commerce and then you have the base – these Tea Partiers – running off and causing Republicans to lose elections. But for elections lost by Republican consultants and/or the Tea Party, we would already have [a Republican majority in the Senate].”[3]

Notice her use of the imperial “we,” which she quickly redefined as “I’m not to blame.”

Coulter accepts zero blame for Romney’s debacle in 2012 and still touts him as the perfect candidate for the GOP in 2016. Romney lost and, therefore, had no coattails. Running RINOs will never attract the conservative vote.

But Coulter prefers to besmirch principled Republican candidates with character and, instead, support “electable” candidates like Romney and Christie who are fake conservatives. It can never work.

There are many reason why Coulter is no longer trusted. See Never Trust Ann Coulter – at ANY Age, at www.coulterwatch.com/never.pdf.
